Article State / Purpose[edit]

The article was fairly stable up to March this year. It has been reverted to a less 'promotional' version once on 10 March, and three times today.

If we can generalize the article to talk about a science education effort of NASA running since 2000 possibly we can make an encyclopedic article.

The development of secondary sources would be a good start ---- I have only found one:

  • "Sun-Earth Day 2004: Transit of Venus". Science Scope. 27 (5). National Science Teachers Association: 34–41. Feb 2004. Retrieved 2012-04-19.

There are of course NASA cites:

But they don't satisfy the need for WP:SECONDARY sources. Can we develop other secondary sources??? Regards, Ariconte (talk) 07:53, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two more (They are about 'Earth Day' NOT Sun-Earth Day)..... confusion!:

Simple Update[edit]

Thanks for your helpful points. I am the co-lead for the Sun-Earth Day program. My most recent revision was an attempt to simply update the article. However, it seems that everything I write (even simple corrections) are being reverted to an earlier out of date version? The date in the second paragraph refers to last year's program, the Sun-Earth Day website links are incorrect and the additional links at the bottom refer to articles that aren't related in any way tot he content (with the exception of IHY). My attempts to even correct these simple issues are also being 'reverted'? I've spend hours attempting to update this article with no luck. The additional links that you suggested are a good start and are from the very program that I co-lead. I'm certainly willing to make appropriate updates with the rest of the community but am very concerned about the amount of time it seems to be taking to attempt revisions only to find that even my simplest revisions are been 'reverted'. Is there some way(perhaps in this talk page) that revisions can be suggested and reviewed prior to my attempting to update the article on Wikipedia?

You can see our entire Sun-Earth Day team at http://sunearthday.nasa.gov/2012/about/team.php. I'm the second person down on the left. I thought it might help to show that I am a knowledgeable content source for the Sun-Earth Day article. (TroyDCline (talk) 12:54, 19 April 2012 (UTC)) Thanks[reply]

There are a couple of concerns regarding your edits. First, there is a Wikipedia policy against using promotional language, as stated on WP:NOTADVOCATE. Second, you have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest regarding this topic, which is a big no-no. Please try to edit articles according to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Thank you. Troy - Do you know of other secondary sources?? They would be useful in meeting the policy at Wikipedia:No original research and specifically WP:Secondary. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 20:05, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
